Afsaneh Nahavandi was born in Tehran Iran. She left the country prior to the 1979 Islamic revolution and has lived in US since. She has taught at Northeastern University in Boston and at Arizona State University (ASU) for the past 23 years. She has served as director of the MBA program and associate dean and regularly consults for public and private organizations. Her primary focus is leadership and culture. Her textbook “The Art and Science of Leadership” published by Pearson-Prentice Hall is one of the best selling leadership textbooks in the US. She has published other books, articles, and chapters about leadership and culture. In addition to several teaching awards, she is the 2004 winner of the ASU Parents’ Association Professor of the Year Award, one of the university’s most prestigious teaching awards. .
